Rainbows are one of nature’s works of art. A colorful phenomenon created as light is refracted by water, breaking into its color components: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. This prismatic array is so well-known it has its own acronym: ROY G. BIV.
Lore tells us that there is a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. However, actually finding the end of a rainbow is often quite difficult. They fade into nothingness or are hidden and cannot be seen at all. I wonder, if you could find both ends of a rainbow, would there be a pot of gold at each of them?
Personally, I think the rainbow itself is the “pot of gold.” A rainbow is something magical in the air, both literally and figuratively. Seeing a rainbow makes me happy.
We do not see rainbows very often. Maybe the rarity is something that makes them special. Still, I would like it if they were around a bit more. Sadly, I do not have the power to make it rain, but I did discover something close - a homemade rainbow! It may be small, and there definitely are no pots of gold, but it is brilliant and it makes be smile. Best of all, whenever I feel the need for a bright spot in my life, if there is a bit of sun around, I can make a little magic in my own backyard.
Today’s photograph is a “homemade” rainbow in my own backyard. Today’s poem is a haiku celebrating the beauty of the magic.
RAINBOW REVERIE
Rainbow, arching high
Hugging earth as raindrops fly
Light-show for the soul.
Oh yes, it certainly is the pot of gold if you make it yourself. It's always a good idea to brighten up your day. Lovely haiku, too. Nice pace and lightness.
Beautiful!
